Service Description

Gosh, do we have a treat for you! After popular demand, our three day bag making course is now available! Are you looking for something a little quirky and unusual? Want to let your creativity go wild? Well then this is definitely the course for you! In this fantastic session, you will be guided through the process of making your own bag entirely out of real leather. Choose from a selection of patterns to fit your personal taste and style. Handcut your item from beautiful vegetable tanned leather and browse our selection of funky fashion leathers before spending an afternoon dyeing and colouring your piece to perfection. Finally, we will work through your bag learning the techniques of traditional hand-stitching, finishing with your choice of hardware and a whole host of additional extras to turn your piece from homemade to handmade! Learn the techniques and skills required to make your very own bag to take away and show off to your loved ones (and strangers!). This course makes an absolutely perfect gift, as your own personality can be thoroughly added to your item. Work at your own pace. We will start the weekend by learning a little bit about leather and what it does to get you into the flow, followed up by a brilliant few days of hands on crafting. From painting designs on your bag, handdrawing, amazing themes and other design ideas - this course is limited to just 5 people to ensure you have plenty of time and space to ask all the questions you need! This longer format course also allows for you as a learner to be catered to - if you like to do things a little at a time and jump between parts or like to work in methodical chunks to a set formula, the room is set up for you to craft however you feel most comfortable whilst under the watchful eye and expert guidance of a professional tutor. After your workshop, you will also receive a copy of our 26 page Buyers Guide. Filled with articles, handy information and a list of UK suppliers, this booklet has been specially produced to ensure all our students leave our course with everything they could possibly need to continue their journey in leathercrafting. In our main location, based in Leigh Spinners mill, we have a fantastic studio kitted out with everything you need to learn leathercraft. Group courses are held in the newly opened Project Space. There is an onsite cafe, free parking, nearby accommodation and plenty of great things to do and see in the mill. I look forward to meeting you!
