Morning

In the morning of your workshop, we'll pop the kettle on and get ready to learn all about the different types of leather. Then, once we know our material, you will design your very own pair of sandals, how you want them to sit and what works best for you under expert tuition. Then, we'll begin patterning to fit perfectly to your feet!

Midday

Once patterned, we can start cutting your design from your chosen leather. Add colours, patterns, texture, 3d elements... whatever your heart desires! Check our range of dyes for something funky, or keep it neutral and modern - its all up to you.

We'll also head out for a little lunch to keep them crafty minds working.

Afternoon

In the afternoon, we can begin to assemble your sandals. You will use glues, stitching, rivets and hardware to put together your final pair.
We'll top your finished flip-flops off with some leather protection, and you're ready to take them away to wear!

what will you craft?

In the Sandal Making Course you will create one pair of leather Sandals for yourself. No shoe lasts are provided in this workshop as you can recreate the same simple process at home.

Design your pair entirely from scratch using self-drafting and draping techniques. These patterns are then yours to take away with you should you wish.

what our students say!

Terry Skene

We had a really good day. Pipa listened and reacted to what we wanted from the course and delivered exactly what we asked for! It was good to work with some who was so skilled and willing to share her knowledge, including the short cuts! The whole thing was very enjoyable and we left with not only lots of ideas, but how we might actually achieve them!

Lindsey

What a privilege to spend a day with such a talented, knowledgeable and enthusiastic artisan. Pipa is a gifted teacher, and takes a interest in the student's own style and ideas, but she's also down to earth and approachable. I started the day with no background in leatherwork and left with knowledge, skills, new ideas and the confidence to try out some techniques in my own crafting. Thanks, Pipa!
